The Most Important Question You Need to Ask Yourself Right Now during Social Distancing and Self-Isolation
There’s no question that we’re looking at a new way of life when this virus is finally behind us. It hit us like a hurricane, hard and fast without notice or warning. We didn’t see it coming and we sure aren’t prepared for it.
There’s many uncertainties we’re all facing about our health, our jobs and the economy. Uncertainties that are bringing on all our fears and concerns for the future. We are plagued with questions about what’s going to happen. Questions that are bringing up anxieties for many people about what hasn’t happened yet. Questions that are consuming your thoughts and draining your energy. These are the wrong questions.
There’s really only one question you need to ask yourself right now in this time of social distancing and self-isolation that we are all experiencing:
The honesty of the question should be answered as if the virus didn’t exist and money was not an issue. The time is real. You have it to do what you want with it. And I’m sorry but for obvious reason, you can’t say travel. But if your answer is to write a book, then write your book. If your answer is to start a business, learn everything you can about that business inside and out. It’s called Google. If you want to learn an instrument, Youtube is your teacher.
Ask yourself what you want most in your life and how can you use this time alone to achieve it. Has there ever been a time you wanted to go after something but you told yourself you didn’t have the time to do it. Now you do.
And if you don’t know the answer. Then it’s good time to dig deep and find out what it is.
Once you do: Here are my three tips for getting through this challenging time.
- Create a detailed vision of what your answer is. Write a step by step breakdown of everything between now and that vision. Write it down and put it on your wall.
- Schedule your day. From morning to evening. Schedule when and what to work on and time to read, and even time to procrastinate if you need to. Keep yourself accountable.
- Keep a daily. journal. This one is extremely important. Keep a record of this time. Include gratitude in the morning and daily goals. Write whatever is going through your mind and whatever you’re feeling. When you put it on paper (or computer) you free yourself from lingering unwanted energy.
This virus will come to an end. We will be facing a new way of life. The best thing you can do for the betterment of our world and our existence is to begin becoming the best version of yourself right now and inspire others to do the same. Show courage in the face of uncertainty and create your story moving forward.
